Key responsibilities:
- Complete tenant-related maintenance services efficiently and professionally
- Assess and respond to maintenance emergencies in accordance with established procedures
- Perform general maintenance and repairs, including minor electrical and plumbing work, drywall repair, painting, carpentry, and related tasks
- Inspect units, prepare repair specifications, and coordinate follow-up with contractors as required
- Maintain accurate maintenance records in line with company policies
- Identify and report recurring maintenance issues and contribute to long-term solutions
- Help ensure all properties are maintained in a safe, functional, and well-kept condition
What you bring:
- At least three years of hands-on experience in building or residential maintenance
- A diploma, degree, or licensed trade in a related field (or equivalent experience)
- Working knowledge of building systems, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and fire safety
- A valid G driver’s licence, clean driving record, and access to a vehicle for work purposes
- Comfort using basic computer tools, including Microsoft Office
- Strong communication skills and a respectful, tenant-focused approach
- The ability to work independently, manage priorities, and follow through on tasks
- Physical ability to lift up to 25 pounds and safely use an 8-foot step ladder
- Willingness to pursue ongoing training and professional development
- A clean criminal record check
Assets (but not a requirement):
- Familiarity with the Residential Tenancies Act, Ontario Building Code, and/or Fire Code
Why work with Wigwamen:
- Stable, full-time salaried position
- Comprehensive benefits package
- Meaningful work supporting affordable housing
- A supportive, mission-driven organization with long-term roots in the community
