Wigwamen Incorporated is hiring a Junior Accounting Clerk for its head office in Toronto.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

The incumbent, reporting to the Financial Controller, will perform accounts payable/receivable functions and other duties.

 

Accounts Payable:

·         review, verify and code all incoming invoices and expense reports

·         ensure that all supporting documentation and authorization is received

·         assemble invoices and supporting documentation into packages for posting into NewViews

·         input invoices & process payments with either computerized or manual cheques

·         prepare journal entries for inter-company payments

·         send cheques by mail or courier

·         ensure that invoices and authorized recurring charges are paid in a timely manner

·         prepare Excel worksheets for backup documentation

·         ensure accounts payable filing is up-to-date 

·         answer and follow-up on all suppliers’ inquiries

·         respond to inquiries related to accounts payable invoices and payments                            

·         keep track of all utility credits

·         assist in year-end audit including posting journal entries

 

Accounts Receivable:

·         verify monthly management fee calculations

·         prepare monthly management/agent fee billings for clients/CMHC

·         calculate account allocations for posting

·         post all cash/accounts receivable deposits

·         prepare journal entries for in-trust accounts

·         ensure that managers receive copies of month-end receivable sub-ledgers and daily deposits

·         reconcile deposits entered in NewViews with managers’ own records at month-end

 

Other duties including but not limited to:

·         making bank deposits as required

·         other filing, ordering of cheques and postage, and other administrative duties as required

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Education:    

·         high school diploma, or equivalent

·         college experience in accounting or business strongly preferred

·         strong computer skills including exposure to a range of accounting software

 

Experience:  

·         minimum of 2 years in related experience

·         proficiency in Microsoft Excel

·         knowledge of, and experience with, NewViews

·         excellent communication, organizational and time management skills

·         track record of accuracy and thoroughness and ability to monitor own work
