Architect's rendering of 160 Kenwood Avenue

The Transformation of 160 Kenwood Avenue

In the planning stage since January 2008, Wigwamen’s latest affordable housing project in Toronto has at last begun construction.

Originally a 4-plex, with four, two bedroom units, our property at 160 Kenwood Avenue is being redeveloped into a nine-plex, with three bachelor units; three one bedroom units; and three two bedroom units. Designed by Hilditch Architect, and built by Dasd Construction, this brand new, three-storey apartment is scheduled for completion September 30, 2014.

Construction complete!

Although delayed briefly due to a boiler leak during construction, the building was finished and ready for move-in by March, 2015. Nine households have moved into these brand new units – more than double the amount of housing that the old building provided.

The photo gallery in the sidebar shows the progression from demolition of the old building, through to completion of the new.

We extend our thanks to the Province of Ontario, the City of Toronto, and Miziwe Biik Development Corporation for their financial support and assistance.
